The 2 nd XI hosted a strong Stanmore team (who were sitting pretty at the top of Division 2) on a

scorching Saturday at Waterfall Road. Hopes of a first league win of the season were high as we

fielded another strong outfit. Pre-match confidence continued to grow as the bowlers consistently

hit a single stump during the warm up…much to the frustration of keeper Bellwood. Unfortunately,

the toss was lost and the visitors promptly decided to bat first on what looked like an absolute

belter.

Early on Saturday morning we headed for the most distant ground in the league, the difficult journey compounded by having to negotiate the Rugby Sevens crowd en-route. Spirits however were high as we were fielding what at least on paper was a very strong XI and furthermore Twickenham was the scene of our last win ( unfortunately for Ed Harvey he had missed that game last year).
